What is it

Theft is an illegal act aimed at the unauthorized taking of someone else's property, car. It can be done to achieve various goals.

But, if it is proved that there was a commercial component, then theft will be reclassified as theft. And for such a crime, a more serious punishment is provided.

The commercial component is understood as theft, with the aim of further resale of the car as a whole or in separate parts. That is, the goal of taking possession of someone else's car is to obtain a positive financial result.

What is regulated

Since stealing is an illegal act, its commission is of a criminal nature. The commission of such an action leads to the imposition of punishment, according to.

Security system

Every car has a security system. One more modern, the other outdated.

Conventionally, they can be classified:

  • according to the principle of action;
  • by appointment.

According to the principle of action

According to this classification, security systems are:

  • mechanical;
  • electrical.

Most effective way the mechanical "guard" of the car is the gearbox lock. It is easy to install, but at the same time it reliably blocks the checkpoint. As a rule, they install it in places where it is difficult to reach with any hacking device. But, not all car owners are ready to buy such a lock for several reasons. One of them is its design features.

For example, SAAB brand cars have sensors installed that do not allow the gearbox to be blocked with just such a blocker. In addition, difficulties may arise when installing a lock on cars of such brands as Ford Focus II, Lexus RX 300, Toyota Corolla and Avensis.

Some insurance companies, before signing a contract with the owner of the car, require a transmission by mechanical means. Therefore, problems can arise in this area as well.

But, the “qualification” of hijackers is constantly growing, and experts advise installing a steering wheel lock together with the gearbox lock.

The installed immobilizer does not allow you to start the car engine. It is installed on the car key itself, and blocks the engine from starting without breaking the electrical network. That is, if the hijacker tries to start the car, all its main units will be de-energized. It is simply impossible to steal a car. But, such a security system is by no means cheap!

There is an almost perfect security system. But, it does not consist of one device, but their 3-ex In total.

  • immobilizer;
  • Hood lock;
  • alarm system.

Important! You should not rejoice if, when buying a car in a car dealership, they gave a security system as a gift. It needs to be replaced immediately. Unfortunately, such systems are easily hacked, as they have been “pumped” by hijackers for quite some time.

The electric methods of blocking the gearbox include a hood lock. Activation of the gearbox lock takes place using an electromechanical solenoid. The solenoid is activated via the electrical signaling network or via other available communication channels. That is, until the hood is opened, it is impossible to get to the checkpoint lock.

By appointment

Depending on what task the security system faces, they can be divided into:

  • car alarms;
  • blocking devices.

Car alarms include devices that have monitoring functions. They have special sensors that inform either the owner of the car or special authorities that the car has been tampered with. If the car still managed to be stolen, then such a system can track and indicate the place where the car is located.

The main task of blocking devices is to restrict hijackers' access to important units and devices in the car.

You can install the blocker only in a specialized center. This center must be certified to conduct such activities.

Mechanical locks against theft

The most "popular" in modern world, these are mechanical interlocks that protect the car from theft.

Many owners do not trust their cars to electronics, believing that any electronics can be hacked and “pumped”.

Mechanical blockers are divided into:

  • pin;
  • pinless;
  • arc;
  • mechanical;
  • electromechanical.

pin

After the driver stops the car and does not want to continue moving further, he must put the gearshift lever in the desired position. Which one is provided by the blocker manufacturer. Once the lever is in the desired position, it will be blocked by a metal pin that will not allow it to budge.

This pin is made of high strength steel, its length is approximately 15 cm.

The principle of its work is as follows:

  • it is inserted into a special hole, which is the gearbox assembly;
  • there is a small lever on the surface that cannot be picked up by hand.

Only the owner of the car or the one who has the key can unlock the system. In a special lock, which is also located in a secret place, you need to insert the ignition lock and turn it in the right direction. Then the system will be unlocked, the pin, with the help of a spring, will “push out” a few centimeters. Now you can grab it with your hands and pull it out. You can go!

pinless

The principle of operation is the same as that of the pin blocker, but it is installed inside the checkpoint, so it will not work to get it out with your hands. The pin is controlled by a key according to the principle: insert the key - turn it in the right direction - turn on the security system.

To unlock, again need a key. The principle of operation is the same: insert the key - turn it in the right direction- Disarmed the car. The key hole is located inside the car.

Arc

The gearbox in the car is blocked with a special bracket. It blocks the lever in such a position that it cannot be pressed against the lock. In this position, he is completely motionless, and stealing the car will not work.

Mechanical

This method of locking the transmission involves the use of mechanical means. These are locks that easily and simply block the checkpoint. But at the same time they are considered the most reliable.

Electromechanical

This is the use of both a mechanical interlock and an electronic lock. These include door and hood locks. You can't get to the gearbox without opening the hood. The doors are blocked in order to avoid penetration into the interior of the car.

Lock installation

It is more convenient to put a lock for the checkpoint blocker in the passenger compartment - in a conspicuous place or in a secret place. But, you can put it in the engine compartment. Getting to it will be difficult not only for the hijacker, but also for the driver himself.

Such locks are installed only in specialized service centers that have the appropriate license to conduct activities and quality certificates for the installed equipment.

Before deciding where to put the blocker, in the passenger compartment or in the engine compartment, it is worth studying some of the nuances:

  • if the lock is in the car, the thief will open the doors and damage the interior trim. He will turn half of the cabin before he finds that there is a blocker at the checkpoint;

    He may change his mind about stealing a car, but the interior will need to be repaired.

  • There are several ways to leave by car, in which there is a blocker at the checkpoint, and the lock is in the passenger compartment. One of them is the use of a cable that will go from the handle to the gearbox assembly;

    This allows you to use the box in manual mode.

  • the cable can be disconnected from the lever, and then turn on the desired speed to leave without using the gearshift lever in the cabin.

This will not happen if you install a blocker in the engine compartment.

Price

Depending on which security system the owner of the car chooses - electrical or mechanical, its price also differs.

So, an electric interlock will cost the owner of the car about 5 000 rubles, and mechanical - about 4 thousand rubles.

Approximate prices for anti-theft blockers can be seen in the table below:

Advantages and disadvantages

This car theft protection system has its advantages and disadvantages.

The benefits include:

  • the lock installed on the gearbox is an additional guarantee that the car will not be stolen;
  • pinless and arc bollards are reliable and convenient to use. Those blockers that are placed under the hood are difficult to install, but more reliable.

Do not forget about the shortcomings.

These include:

  • better to use multiple security systems. But, this is a different pricing policy, and not every car owner can afford to buy a few;

    Mechanical means of protection are an effective means of protection that complements electronic security systems. Hacking or dismantling a mechanical transmission lock takes time and creates a lot of noise that draws attention to the hijacker.

    The principle of operation and functions of the blocker

    The principle of operation of the car transmission blocker is based on the limitation of the mobility of the elements of the gearshift drive. The steel rod fixes the gearshift lever in the "park" mode on an automatic transmission or in forward or forward gears. reversing for manual transmission.

    Blockers can restrict the mobility of the following elements:

    • gearshift lever;
    • cables connecting the lever and the switching mechanism on the box;
    • switching mechanisms on the box itself.

    The use of a mechanical interlock on vehicles with manual transmission excludes the use of an automatic engine start and warm-up system.

    Kinds

    Blockers are divided into several types depending on the type of installation and the versatility of the design. The simplest are arc blockers on the box, which do not require the installation of guide elements on the car. The devices do not provide a high degree of protection because they are easily cut off.

    According to the principle of action, blockers can be divided into two categories:

    • mechanical, in which the lock is performed by turning the key or inserting the pin;
    • electromechanical (the crossbar moves with the help of an electromagnet).

    Pinless

    The device was called pinless not because of the absence of a pin in the design, but because of the non-removable design of the blocking rod. The base of the blocker is installed on the link of the gearbox, the control is carried out using a rotary larva. The larva is located in a steel durable case mounted on a base. The body is brought to lateral side center console.

    Pinless transmission yoke blocker

    pin

    The pin blocker has a removable element in its design. Before installing the pin, it is required to set the gear lever to a certain position, which is determined when installing the product. The pin is then inserted into the pilot hole and automatically clicks into place. The element has a spring-loaded support that pushes the pin out when the key is turned in the lock.

    Pin blocker backstage gearbox

    Universal

    Universal blockers are designed for use on various vehicles equipped with automatic transmission (automatic transmission) or manual transmission (manual transmission). The installation of the protective device requires modifications to the backstage and a good knowledge of the gearshift mechanism. Universal bollards can be equipped with both a removable and a fixed fixing pin. Products of this type are currently practically not found due to the complexity of creating a universal design.

    model

    Devices of this class are developed for the design features of a particular car model or model range, which is based on one platform. Due to this, the device does not require any modifications to the car structure, except for making holes for the lock cylinder or installing a pin.

    Model Box Blocker

    Advantages and disadvantages

    The main advantages of a mechanical gearbox lock:

    1. Increase car theft time by a few minutes. According to statistics, if the hijacker could not leave on the opened vehicle within 2-3 minutes, then he will leave it.
    2. Ease of use. This is especially true for pinless or electromechanical devices.

    Product disadvantages:

    1. Difficulty of installation.
    2. Despite the ads, the locks are opened fairly quickly. According to the reviews of the owners, Dragon blockers are opened by the bumping method in a few minutes (the owners resorted to the services of specialized companies after losing the keys).
    3. The blocker usually fixes the shift cables on the wings. The cable connection points to the gearbox are usually not protected. An attacker can open the hood, remove or bite off the cables from the rocking chairs mounted on the gearshift shaft. The gear is then manually engaged and the vehicle can move. On cars with automatic transmission, it is much more efficient to install an electronic chip that breaks the circuit from the control unit. Until the signal from the label is read, the box either does not switch speeds, or turns off the engine when the selector is moved through the neutral position.
    4. A machine with a manual transmission can move in reverse.
    5. A vehicle equipped with a manual transmission can be towed. A car with an automatic transmission can be stolen by partial or full loading.

    The video provided by the MustafaFurnis channel demonstrates the opening of the lock cylinder of the Construct blocker using the bumping method.

    How to install?

    The method of installing the blockers depends on the model of the car and the design of the console. To install the elements of the blocker, it is required to gain access to the attachment points of the wings to the welded nuts or studs located on the central tunnel of the body. To do this, you will have to remove the console completely or only the upper part with the gear shift knob installed.

    When installing a mechanical interlock system for the gearshift drive, it is recommended to follow a few rules:

    1. Mechanical devices must be used in conjunction with electronic protective equipment or other mechanical interlocks. When the two types of protection are used together, the risk of theft is significantly reduced.
    2. Installation of mechanical protective equipment must be carried out in specialized workshops. This is due to the fact that the installation requires the accuracy of the relative position of the elements. Erroneous installation can cause incorrect operation of the backstage when the lock is disabled.

    Self-installation of interlocks on manual and automatic transmissions should be carried out by people who have experience in installing such products. Otherwise, there is a risk of damage to expensive vehicle components.

    For manual transmission

    As an example, the installation of a Construct blocker on a 6-speed mechanics of a Ford Focus car is considered:

    1. Remove the top cover of the console together with the shift handle and boot.
    2. Loosen the bolts securing the backstage to the body.
    3. Install the locking bracket on the front of the backstage.
    4. On the central part of the backstage, fix a part of the blocker with a lock cylinder.
    5. Mount the third body part of the blocker.
    6. A bracket is installed on the shift lever, with the help of which the movement is limited. The bracket has a hole into which the crossbar enters.
    7. Check the operation of the blocker, the bolt must block the lever without jamming.
    8. All bolts must be tightened to the correct torque. The tightening torques for the bolts on the body can be found in the repair instructions for the vehicle. The tightening torques of the threaded connections of the blocker parts are indicated in the instructions. When tightened, the bolt heads break off, making it more difficult for an intruder to remove the device.
    9. Mark the location of the hole for the lock cylinder.
    10. Drill a pilot hole with a small diameter, then drill a hole for the larva with a bit of the appropriate size.
    11. Install the cover in place.

    Part of the installation steps is shown in the photo.

    One of the options for the blocker Garant Consul

    The blocker is characterized by:

    1. The design of the device uses the lock part manufactured by Abloy Protec, which has almost 2 billion key combinations.
    2. The larva is installed in a cylindrical thick-walled housing made of steel. The thickness of the walls of the case is 4 mm.
    3. To block the gearshift drive, a retractable bolt made of high-strength steel is installed.
    4. The larva of the lock is displayed closer to the top of the console, which simplifies the work with the lock. To turn the mechanism on and off, just turn the key by 180°. Locking is only possible with a certain position of the shift lever.
    5. The fixing brackets of the lock are made of 5 mm steel sheet. The elements are interconnected by welding and covered with a powder coating that provides protection against corrosion.
    6. The bollard is mounted on bolts with shear heads on standard attachment points on the car body. The blocker can only be removed by drilling out the fixing bolts.

    Electromechanical interlock Garant iP-GR belongs to a new generation of devices. To control the blocking, an additional channel of the security complex or a special key fob is used, which must be brought to the reader.

    Delivery set of blocker Garant iP-GR

    Characteristic features of the blocker:

    1. Welded steel construction, mounted on standard fixing points with shear bolts.
    2. Model diagram lock, a separate modification is produced for each car.
    3. The package includes additional protective brackets that restrict access to the shift cables. The brackets do not allow the box to be controlled by removing the console and shifting the shift cables with various tools.
    4. The lock has a built-in safety element that prevents the box from blocking in motion or when stopped. The fuse responds to the state of the ignition system by blocking the bolt of the device when the engine is running.
    5. Disconnecting the standard battery does not deactivate the protective device.
    6. The compact dimensions of the bollard make it possible to hide it completely under the trim of the center console. Only the combination pushbutton switch with a ring antenna mounted around the pushbutton remains visible.
    7. The device uses a hack-resistant crypto-code. The signal is read when the mark approaches at a distance of 50 mm from the antenna. Such an algorithm excludes the interception of the control code by an attacker.

    Firm "Fortus"

    A common type of pinless lock is Fortus products. Shift blocking is performed by fixing the backstage in the reverse gear position (for mechanics) or in the parking position (for automatic).

    Castle features include:

    1. Use of Mul-T-Lock locking cylinders equipped with high alloy steel pins.
    2. Installation of additional carbide inserts in the cylinder body, which make drilling difficult.
    3. The pin springs are made of acid-resistant beryllium bronze. The lock cannot be opened by etching the larva with acids.
    4. The design of the key has a floating pin. Removing the key from the lock, the owner takes part of the secret combination. A similar design is developed by Mul T-Lock Interactive.
    5. The key and pins have a special coating of nickel and silver alloy, which ensures the ease of operation of the mechanism.
    6. The lock has a bar that prevents dirt from getting inside. The cylinder mechanism does not require lubrication and remains operational over a wide temperature range.
    7. The lock comes with three keys. For making duplicates, a card with a code is included in the package. Specialized workshops can produce an additional key using this code.
    8. It is possible to use the lock in combination with other protective devices.

    Fortus box mechanical lock

    On the basis of a mechanical lock, Fortus developed an electromechanical device. The blocker can be turned off with burglar alarm or by applying a label to the reader. The characteristics of the blocker are similar to the parameters of the Garant iP-GR device.

    Company "Cerberus-M"

    The third common type of blockers are pinless and pinned products of the Cerber-M company, known under the brand name "Dragon". Blockers can be installed not only on the main gearbox, but also on the transfer gearbox.

    Features of pinned and pinless products "Dragon":

    1. Application for the case of high-strength steels with subsequent heat treatment. The geometric scheme complicates the procedure of force hacking.
    2. The locking bolt is made of several elements. The crossbar drive resists force influences. The design of the drive is patented.
    3. The design of the blocker has additional protective elements that prevent access to vulnerable nodes.
    4. The lock cylinder has over 3.5 million combinations. The larva uses additional protective inserts that increase the knot's resistance to twisting or drilling. The small dimensions of the cylinder do not spoil appearance car interior.

    Firm "Construct"

    On the market of anti-theft devices, there are blockers under the brand name Construct, which are produced in the Czech Republic:

    1. Pinless circuit.
    2. The lock has increased resistance to mechanical, chemical and thermal burglary methods.
    3. Built-in protection against rotation of the larva.

    Appearance of the blocker Construct

    Hello dear car enthusiasts! The issue of car safety has always been in the first place, after its acquisition. Especially the safety of a car has become relevant today, when the cost of a car is calculated in tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    Some of the car owners calm themselves by installing "fancy" electronic systems, although we all understand perfectly well that today's hijacker no longer goes "to work" with a mount or a master key. According to the “hijacking specialists”, each electronic anti-theft device has its own code grabber.

    What should a motorist do when from various sources about anti-theft systems ah, there are different, sometimes conflicting opinions about the methods and devices from theft? And you need to do the following: to combine electronic and mechanical anti-theft tools into a single security complex. Unless, of course, your car deserves it.

    Let's talk about mechanical anti-theft devices. In particular, about what a gearbox lock is, and whether it is worth it.

    What does it mean: mechanical transmission lock

    Transmission lock is the installation of mechanisms that make it impossible to shift gears by blocking the moving parts of the gearbox.

    With all the many proposed options for mechanical anti-theft systems for the gearbox, the gearbox blocker, as a rule, has the same principle of operation - the impossibility of moving one or another part of the gearbox mechanism.

    The traditional classification of mechanical gearbox locks includes: universal gearbox locks and model gearbox locks.

    Universal bollards- This is a mechanical blocking of the gearbox, which is installed on any model of car.

    Model bollards- this is a gearbox lock of a particular car model, taking into account its design features. The following systems can be safely attributed to model blockers: Mult-Lock (multilok), "Defend-Lock, Bear-Lock, Construct.

    In turn, both those and other gearbox locks are divided into pin and pinless. There are also arc gearshift locks to block the gear lever. But, they are still being squeezed out of the market by pin and pinless interlocks.

    Gearbox pin lock: principle of operation

    The principle of operation of the pin blocker is simple. After you have stopped the car, the lever is moved to one of the required positions: it can be setting at a certain “speed” in, or in the “P” position for.

    Then the lever is blocked by a metal pin, which is made of high strength steel. The pin is inserted into a special hole in the gearbox, and its small “head” remains on the surface.

    The gearbox pin lock is unlocked by the owner using the key. When you turn the key inserted into the blocker lock, the pin “shoots out” a few centimeters, and thus the pin is removed.

    Pinless gear lock

    Naturally, there is a pin in the pinless gearbox lock. The only difference from the pin one is that it does not need to be inserted into the socket and removed manually each time.

    The pin is located inside the gearbox, and it is not visible from the outside at all. The pinless lock is controlled by a key and a lock. He stopped, inserted it into the lock and turned the key - the anti-theft blocker was activated. Before starting the movement, he turned the key - an unlock occurred.

    A feature of the pinless locking means is that its installation requires intervention in the internal structure of the gearbox, therefore, its installation should only be done at a car service.

    The most used transmission locking systems are beerlock and multilock on the gearbox. In the range of these famous brands there are both pin and pinless systems of mechanical transmission locking.

    "People's" advice on choosing a mechanical gearbox lock

    • a mechanical interlock should only work in conjunction with an anti-theft alarm system;
    • when installing a pinless lock, you need to choose a service station very carefully, since you have to “intervene” in the gearbox device;
    • when choosing the blocker itself, pay attention to the anti-vandal resistance of the blocker lock on the gearbox, it must be made of durable metal, protected from drilling and sawing.

    Mechanical transmission lock is considered one of the reliable ways to ensure the safety of your car. And the choice of a checkpoint locking system depends on the capabilities of your budget and car model.

    Good luck with your choice of transmission lock system.

    Nowadays, a lot of attention is paid to security systems. This trend has not bypassed cars. Everyone tries to secure their vehicle as much as possible, and this desire is quite justified. An example is the mechanical blocking of a node such as a gearbox. So, the lock on the checkpoint, what is it?

    What does a checkpoint blocker look like?

    Don't imagine huge the padlock with a chain around the gear lever. This device is invisible. No parts sticking out and interfering with the driver or passenger. In most cases, it's just a key cylinder.

    "Salon" gearbox lock

    Why are mechanical interlocks installed?

    Many mistakenly believe that installing a car alarm provides one hundred percent protection against hijackers or robbers. It will not be difficult for a real “specialist” to determine the type of security device and develop tactics to deal with it. Moreover, it will take him not so much time. A surprise for an attacker will be mechanical interlocks.

    Mechanical protection is very effective

    What are these devices? From the foregoing, we can conclude that they block something mechanically. And this should prevent the hijacker.

    Types of blockers

    Vehicle components, mechanical or electromechanical (not to be confused with electronic), the blocking of which is most effective:

    • Hood (additional locks);
    • Steering;
    • Box (mechanism) gear change;
    • doors;
    • Pedals;
    • Brake system.

    The main types of castles

    But do not rush to go to the installation center and install all of the listed types of locks at once, and coupled with a new car alarm, GSM module and other "bells and whistles"! Don't make life difficult for yourself!

    Yes, security needs a comprehensive approach, but everything must be balanced. Imagine how long it will take the owner to open all the locks? And this eternal confusion with the keys ... in a few days you will sit in the driver's seat, as if in an electric chair!

    Weigh it all and do right choice, it is better, if possible, to consult several installation centers at once.

    Gearbox locks

    Let's get back to protecting the gearbox. How is it blocked, and how secure is it?

    Mechanical locks

    Such locks are installed inside the passenger compartment and block the gear selector (lever).

    Gearbox mechanical lock

    On the automatic gearbox, the selector is tightly closed in the "parking" position, on the mechanics with the reverse gear engaged. Reliable? Is there any way to bypass this checkpoint lock?

    It is not possible to move the lever without destroying the lock. Master keys, drilling or power turning of the lock cylinder, sawing off the mechanism are easily applicable only on low-quality locks (they can be sold under the guise of “stocks”), or with careless installation. A good blocker is not cheap, and if properly installed, it will withstand a long struggle, which will not be to the liking of an attacker.

    But what happens if you try to control gear changes without a lever? Let him “stick out” for himself in whatever gear he wants, and we, as a hijacker, will disconnect the rod (cable) connecting the selector to the box. Even in the cabin, even under the hood. We cut into the first gear or “drive” and slowly shed to a secluded place. This scenario is quite real.

    And on such cars as Toyota Avensis and Honda Accord, it is completely pointless to install these blockers.

    Honda Accord and Toyota Avensis

    The automatic transmission control mechanism on these vehicles contains many plastic parts. The average man, with a moderate effort, will break it without any problems. And no lock will help.

    It turns out that the robber will help to detain (at least for a while) only a high-quality, correctly selected and installed checkpoint lock.

    Electromechanical interlock

    More complex protection devices include electromechanical gearbox locks installed in the same place.

    Selector lock with electromechanical lock

    They are more convenient to use than simple mechanical ones. When the ignition is turned off, the selector is blocked automatically in the "Parking" or "R" position (depending on the type of box). To open the lock, you just need to bring the tag card that comes with the device to a certain place in the cabin (any place at the choice of the owner).

    Marking map and secret place

    There are no lock cylinders and keys, which means there is nothing to open, drill, etc. But the option to control the gearbox, bypassing the selector, is still possible.

    New Solutions

    As an alternative to the usual checkpoint locks, entire anti-theft complexes began to appear.

    Anti-theft complex GearLock

    In addition to blocking the gearbox, which is not carried out in the cabin, but directly at the gearbox itself, these complexes also include protection for the engine compartment. They are controlled in the same way as their electromechanical counterparts, by a label card. In terms of reliability, this is by far the most practical, although not cheap, solution on the market for such devices.

    And remember, only the right combination of protective devices will help to achieve the expected result!

    Comparison of gearbox lock options

    The frequency of car thefts in large and small cities in last years increased several times. This sad state of affairs has prompted many car owners to take care of the safety of their iron horse and equip it with one or more anti-theft systems that can, if not prevent, then delay the moment of theft. Transmission protection is one of the types of anti-theft systems, and today we will talk about it.

    Why is this needed?

    The lock at the checkpoint is one of the most popular species anti-theft protection used by today's motorists. There are so many varieties of such systems that both the owner of a domestic car and a foreign business class car can choose a model to your taste and wallet.

    What is the protection of the checkpoint used for? Why is the transmission control lock so popular in our country and abroad? The answer to the question will help to give official studies that summed up the statistics and helped to draw a certain conclusion.

    It turns out that cars equipped with a checkpoint control lock were able to steal almost twice as often as the rest.

    Why did it happen? To do this, it is worth understanding how the hijacker acts to achieve the goal. Many people think that the main task is just to knock out the window, break the lock, and starting the car will not be difficult. However, even domestic cars are equipped with immobilizers and alarms controlled from a key fob, which operate using electricity.

    The hijacker needs only some electronic equipment, which greatly facilitates his work. All it takes is pressing a few buttons on the signal interceptor when the owner points the key fob at the car and closes it.

    It is much more difficult to cope with mechanical protection - this explains such a high popularity that the lock at the checkpoint has. To hack such a system, you will have to act manually, which is not always easy and within the power of a hijacker.

    Main varieties

    The transmission control lock has several different types, which differ in both price and ease of use. Of course, the price also varies widely.

    The most inexpensive and common variety are pin-type locks with mechanical control. In fact, such a structure consists of two parts. The first of them is mounted in the gearbox housing and is a hole with a lock. The second part is the pin. To lock the gearbox, just insert the pin into the hole and turn the key. To unlock, repeat the procedure in reverse order.

    The pin lock of the gearbox is even more common, although the price of the mechanism itself and its installation is much higher. Oddly enough, one of the components of such a lock is also a pin. The whole difference lies in the fact that it is built into the lock body, and is not visible from the passenger compartment.

    The principle of controlling the mechanism is quite simple: when the key is turned, by means of a system of springs, the pin moves independently into the hole and is fixed. When the key is turned in the opposite direction, the pin comes out of the hole, thereby freeing the box.

    It should be noted that one of the main advantages of such systems is their invisibility. All that is visible to the owner is a small, barely noticeable, keyhole, and it will hardly be possible to find it quickly.
