Identification number of the author in the Rints system. Russian Science Citation Index (rints). instruction. The nuances of the design of the bibliography are presented in the methodological manual of the rints

Miscellaneous

The largest electronic library of scientific publications in Russia, which has rich search and information capabilities. The library is integrated with the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) - a public tool for measuring and analyzing the publication activity of scientists and organizations. eLIBRARY.RU and RSCI are developed and supported by the Scientific Electronic Library company.

SCIENTIFIC ELECTRONIC LIBRARY

Today, eLIBRARY.RU subscribers have access to full-text versions of about 4000 foreign and 3900 domestic scientific journals, abstracts of publications of almost 20 thousand journals, as well as descriptions of one and a half million foreign and Russian dissertations. Over 2800 Russian scientific journals are placed in free open access. For access to other publications, it is possible to subscribe or order individual publications.

eLIBRARY.RU is the developer of the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) - a system for evaluating the performance of both scientific organizations in general and individual authors based on bibliometric indicators - the citation index and the impact factor.

RUSSIAN SCIENTIFIC CITATION INDEX

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is a national information and analytical system that accumulates more than 6 million publications by Russian authors, as well as information about citing these publications from more than 4,500 Russian journals. It is intended not only for operational support scientific research relevant reference and bibliographic information, but is also a powerful tool that allows you to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of research organizations, scientists, the level of scientific journals, etc.

The system is based on a bibliographic abstract database, which indexes articles in Russian scientific journals. AT last years other types of scientific publications began to be included in the RSCI: reports at conferences, monographs, study guides, patents, dissertations. The database contains information about imprint data, authors of publications, places of their work, keywords and subject areas, as well as annotations and reference lists. In addition, out of 4,500 journals processed in the RSCI, more than 3,900 are presented in full-text form on the eLIBRARY.RU platform, including 2,800 journals in the public domain, which in most cases allows you to familiarize yourself with the text of the publication being evaluated.

SCIENCE INDEX

On the basis of the RSCI, an information and analytical system SCIENCE INDEX is being created. This system is primarily designed for scientific organizations that receive a whole set of tools for managing the list of their publications and its analysis, including the ability to add publications that are not in the RSCI, not only articles in scientific journals, but also other types of scientific publications. Since the launch of this system at the end of 2012, more than 670 Russian scientific organizations have already connected to this service.

In 2014, the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU entered into an agreement with Thomson Reuters to place 1000 best Russian scientific journals from the RSCI on the Web of Science platform in the form of a separate Russian Science Citation Index database. This project will significantly improve the visibility and citation of Russian journals in the international information space and will help improve their quality by bringing them up to international standards.

REGISTRATION IN ELIBRARY.RU AND THE SCIENCE INDEX SYSTEM

User registration in Scientific electronic library is a prerequisite for obtaining access to the full texts of publications hosted on the eLIBRARY.RU platform.

In the registration form, you must specify, in particular, the login and password that you will use to enter the library. In the future, you will be able to enter the library from any computer connected to the Internet using the login and password you specified. In this case, all your settings (personal collections of magazines, articles, saved search queries, personal navigator settings, personal statistics, etc.) will be restored.

Registered users also get the opportunity to create personal collections of magazines, articles, save the history of search queries, customize the navigator panel, etc.

To work with the author's profile in the system SCIENCE INDEX it is also necessary to register first, but already as an author. The registration of the author in the SCIENCE INDEX is combined with the registration of the user on the portal of the Scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU. To register with SCIENCE INDEX, you just need to fill in a few additional fields.

Also, when registering in SCIENCE INDEX, you can additionally indicate the international identifiers of the scientist:

If you are already registered on the eLIBRARY.RU portal and want to register as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, you must first enter the library under your username, and then go to your personal card. You can do this by going to the section Personal Profile, Further Personal card, or simply by clicking on the username in the panel SESSION left. In the registration form that opens, some of the fields will already be filled in. It is necessary to check and, if necessary, edit these fields, then check the box "Register me in the SCIENCE INDEX system" and fill in the remaining fields in the additional part of the form that opens below.

When filling out the registration form, you should pay attention to the following important points:

1. When specifying the organization - place of work, it is very important that the organization is selected from the regulatory list of the database, and not entered manually. This will greatly simplify the further identification of your publications. Search for your organization by various fragments of its name. FROM highly likely it is already among more than 12,000 scientific organizations registered in the RSCI.

2. If you work or used to work in several organizations and indicated these organizations in your publications - fill in the field with an additional list of your organizations at the end of the registration form. If you change your primary job, be sure to include your previous organization on this additional list.

3. When registering, you must choose a unique username to log into the library and provide your personal, unique and valid email address. If you register as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then an email with a registration confirmation code will be sent to this address. After receiving this letter, you will need to follow the link indicated in the body of the letter. If you do not receive this letter, you will not be able to complete the registration of the author in the SCIENCE INDEX system.

4. It is also recommended to indicate an additional e-mail address during registration, preferably from another Internet provider. This will allow you to be contacted if the main address is unavailable, for example, if the mail server's SPAM filter blocks the message from the system. This address does not need to be unique. However, please keep in mind that all confidential information, such as your registration data in the event of password recovery, will only be sent to the primary email address. Therefore, if in the future this address becomes unavailable for any reason, enter your registration card and replace it with a new one.

5. If, when filling out the registration form, the system detects that you have already been registered before, but you cannot remember your username and / or password, you should try to use the access recovery procedure. At the same time, an email with your registration data will be sent to the email address you specified during registration. If this address is no longer available, you need to contact the RSCI support service to restore access.

6. At the end of the registration form there is a field for entering the last name on English language. Indicate in this field your last name in the spelling that you used in your foreign publications. You can specify multiple options separated by commas. This will help identify your foreign publications.

7. The password for entering the library must be changed at least once a year. It is also recommended to update the data in the registration form when changing the place of work, position, academic degree and other data.

After completing the registration form, select the operation Save Changes in the panel Possible actions on right. If, when checking your registration form on the server, filling errors are found, you will receive a corresponding message and the form will be returned for revision. In this case, the detected errors will be listed at the beginning of the registration form and highlighted in red. Fix them and click the link again Save Changes. If there are no errors, you will receive a message about successful registration and an email with registration data will be automatically sent to your main email address. Save it - this email will help you if you forget your username and/or password. If you registered as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then in the same letter you will be sent a registration confirmation code in the form of a link that you just need to follow when receiving the letter.

If for some reason you did not receive an email with a confirmation code, you can resend it to your email address. To do this, log in to the library using your username, then to your personal card, and there select the operation Resend an email with the registration confirmation code in the Possible actions panel. At the same time, you can change the main e-mail address if the address indicated on the card is inoperative.

If you registered only as a user of the Scientific Electronic Library, then immediately after registration confirmation you get access to your personal profile and can work on the eLIBRARY.RU portal, including uploading full-text information.

If you registered as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then after successful registration confirmation, your profile is submitted for consideration to the RSCI support service, where, firstly, you are identified as an author in the Russian Science Citation Index, and secondly, a global search throughout the RSCI database of your publications and citations, and then the formation and verification of your list of publications and citations. Upon completion of these operations, which can take up to ten business days, depending on the workload of the support service operators, a letter will be sent to your postal addresses with a message that you have been assigned a personal identification code of the author ( SPIN code) in the SCIENCE INDEX system. From the moment you assign a SPIN code, you will automatically have access to new services that the SCIENCE INDEX system provides for authors of scientific publications.

The Scientific Electronic Library reserves the right to deny the user access to services for authors in the SCIENCE INDEX system at any time without giving reasons, including at the stage of author registration, if attempts to intentionally provide false information or unfair use of the system's capabilities are detected.

WORKING WITH THE LIST OF AUTHOR'S PUBLICATIONS

After registering the author in the SCIENCE INDEX system and assigning him a personal identification code of the author (SPIN code) in the section " AUTHORS" (link in the top navigation bar of the eLIBRARY.RU portal) a link to " Personal profile of the author", which contains all the tools and services intended for authors of scientific publications. To view a list of your publications, you can follow the link " My publications" in this section. You can also get to the list of your publications through " Author index" or simply by clicking on the author's surname on any page of the RSCI, where this surname is highlighted as a link. The list of publications of each author is in the public domain for all RSCI users, however, the registered author on the page with the list of his publications has the opportunity to refine this list, which is not available for other users.

In addition to publications that have a full bibliographic description in the RSCI, on this page you can view the publications of this author, which can be extracted from the lists of references. The inclusion of these publications in the list of the author's works allows you to get a more complete picture of the author's publication activity, since in this case the list also includes those publications that are not in the RSCI. The RSCI began to systematically process Russian journals only in 2006, and issues of journals for previous years are still poorly represented. At the same time, these publications are referenced in current issues of processed journals, and this information can be used to group references and identify authors of cited publications.

Of course, there are more inaccuracies in the descriptions of such publications than in articles from processed journals, since there are quite a lot of errors in the lists of references, and the references themselves often contain a minimum of information that does not allow one to uniquely identify the cited publication. Therefore, sometimes the same publication can be shown in the author's list of publications twice (for example, if different links to this publication contain different pages). When working with the list of publications of the author, you can choose whether to show publications extracted from the bibliography or not. In the list of the author's works, these publications are highlighted with a special icon (see the legend with the icons used on the left).

Also on this page you can choose whether or not to show publications of namesake authors who are not identified as works of this author (not tied to him), although they may potentially be included in the list of his works. You can also separately list only such unlinked publications, which is very convenient for finding your publications and including them in your work list. The serial number of these publications in the list is highlighted in red.

It is best to start work on correcting the list of your publications by carefully reviewing the entire list in order to determine whether the publications of your namesakes accidentally got there, that is, whether all the publications in the list are really yours. If you find a publication of another author incorrectly included in your list, you can remove this work from your list yourself. To do this, select it in the list and select the operation "" in the panel " Tools" on the right. Be careful, when deleting a publication, it is no longer shown not only in the list of your works, but also in your list of unlinked publications.

When deleting or adding publications, you can select several publications at once, and these can be both publications that have a bibliographic description in the RSCI, and publications extracted from the reference lists, but this can only be done within one page of the output list of publications. If the list is large and occupies several pages, then on each page you need to perform these operations separately.

Next, you can view the list of publications of your namesakes, which may include your publications. To do this, set the mode " Show only unlinked posts that may be owned by the given author". Having found your publications in this list, select them and select the operation " Add selected publications to the list of author's works" in panel " Tools" on the right. Publications, the author of which you are definitely not, can be removed from the list of unlinked publications in the same way as for works erroneously linked to you, i.e. by selecting them and selecting the item " Remove selected publications from the author's list of works". This allows you to clear the list of unlinked publications shown to you from other people's publications. This is especially convenient if you have a common surname. By periodically clearing this list, the next time you work in the system you will see only new publications that have appeared in the database, and you you won't have to go through a long list each time looking for your own publications.

If there are many publications in the list, it is convenient to use the ability to select publications by such parameters as subject, journal, organization, co-author or year to search for your (or not your) publications. The distributions of publications in the output list by these parameters are presented at the top of the search form. Next to each parameter value, the number of publications is indicated in brackets. For example, when browsing the list of journals, you can easily find and select a journal in which you have never published, and display only articles from this journal, and then remove them from your list of publications. And vice versa, when viewing publications that are not associated with you, for example, the list of co-authors, you can easily find your colleagues, display a list of works made with them in collaboration, and then add these works to the list of your publications.

When adding publications to the list of your publications, in some cases the system does not allow you to do this automatically. This usually happens if there is doubt about the correctness of attributing this publication to this author, for example, if the surname or initials of the authors differ, or if the article is already linked to another author with the same name. In this case, requests to add articles are submitted for manual review to the RSCI support service. You can select the " Show publications pending confirmation of inclusion in the author's list of works".

Articles published in Russian translated journals deserve special mention. In the RSCI, articles published in Russian version journal, and in the translated English version, are stored separately, but are displayed in the author's list of works as grouped publications. If the author has the same publication in the original and translated versions of the journal, then such publications are considered as one. The same version merging mechanism applies to book reprints. On the author's publications page, it is possible to show the entire list of publications, for this, in the parameters, uncheck the box next to " combine original and translated versions of articles and reissues of books".

SEARCH FOR AUTHOR'S PUBLICATIONS

It is possible that the publication is in the RSCI database, but is not offered in the list of possible publications of this author. Most often this happens due to various transliteration options for the author's surname and initials in his foreign publications. In this case, linking this publication on the page with the list of author's publications will not work. However, registered authors can do so on the page with the bibliographic description of this publication.

You can find such publications in any way available on the eLIBRARY.RU portal. For example, if you know exactly in which journal and in which issue your article was published, you can view the table of contents for that issue by navigating there from the journal catalog. However, the most effective way is to use the main search form of the Scientific Electronic Library. You can go there by selecting " Search terms" in panel " Navigator" on the left. On the page for generating a search query, click on the button " Add" in field " The authors". In the additional window that opens, try searching for various options spelling of your last name in Russian and English. Add suitable options to the search form by clicking on the author's last name. Also add variants in which only your first initial is indicated.

Having formed the query in this way, run it for execution and view the results. On the search results page, publications that are already included in the list of your works are marked with a red star icon in the right column, which shows the number of citations of publications. If you found your publication in this list, which is not included in the list of your works, go to the page with its bibliographic description and select the operation " Add publication to my work list" in panel " Tools".

If the publication is included in the list of your works, then on the page with its bibliographic description you can determine this by the presence of the note " This publication is included in the list of my works", highlighted with an asterisk icon, in the " Tools". By clicking on the link from this icon, you can go to the list of your publications.

WORKING WITH THE LIST OF CITATIONS OF THE AUTHOR

The number of citations of an author is as important as the number of publications. A special interface has been developed for working with the author's citation list in the SCIENCE INDEX system. Using this interface, the author can not only display full list citations of his works, but also include links that the system could not automatically attribute to him, or remove links that were erroneously attributed.

You can get to the page with the list of citations of the author by clicking on the link " My citations" from " Author's personal profile"or from" Author's index" by clicking on the number of citations of the author. For each link shown in the list of citations, not only the text of the link itself is displayed, but also a brief bibliographic description of the publication - the source of this link. If the link cites a publication whose bibliographic description is available in the RSCI database, then an icon with a red arrow is added at the end of the link text, allowing you to go to the full bibliographic description of the cited publication.You can also go to the full bibliographic description of the citing publication by clicking on the link source text.

As well as in the list of publications of the author, in the list of his citations you can choose whether or not to show in the output list of citations publications of namesake authors that are not identified as publications of this author (not linked to him), although they can potentially be included in list of his works. You can choose a mode - show only (linked) links included in the author's citation list, show only unlinked links that may belong to this author, show linked and unlinked links in one list, or display links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list. In this case, as well as in the list of publications, for unlinked links, the serial number in the list is highlighted in red.

The algorithm of the author's work with the list of his citations is generally similar to the algorithm of work with the list of publications. First, you need to check if other people's publications are included in the author's list of citations. If such links are found, select them in the list and select the " Remove selected links from author's citation list" in panel " Tools". Then you need to view the list of unattached links and look for links to your work there. If any are found, select them in the list and select the operation " Add highlighted links to author's citation list". All these operations must be carried out on each page of the list separately, because when you go to the next page, the marked links are not saved. This is done on purpose to reduce the risk of accidental deletions or additions of links, since you can forget what was highlighted on the previous pages of the list.

Also, as in the case of publications, not all references can be immediately included by the author in his list of citations. Disputed links (for example, already linked to another author) are submitted for consideration to the RSCI support service. Until a decision is made, they fall into a separate list, which can be viewed by selecting the " Show links pending confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list".

You can also remove other people's publications from the list of unlinked links, thus clearing this list and thereby simplifying the search for your citations when working with new publications in the RSCI database. It should be noted that the removal of publications or references from these lists also leads to the fact that they will not be considered, including when automatically processing and linking publications and citations to a given author in the RSCI. On the one hand, this is good, because in some cases, another publication or link can be erroneously included in the author's list during automatic linking, on the other hand, this operation must be treated very carefully, since only the service can restore the link of a publication or link deleted from the list. support of the RSCI.

To simplify the search and identification of links, you can limit the displayed list using a set of search parameters at the top of the search form. Please note that some of the search parameters refer to the citing publication (in particular, the year of the citing publication, the subject of the citing article and the journal in which it was published), and some - to the cited one (the year of the cited publication, co-authors). The numbers in parentheses next to each parameter value indicate the number of links corresponding to that value. You can also select links by searching for any word in the link text.

Accounting for author citations depends on the citation source. If the publication (source of citation) contains multiple citations of the same work of the author, then such citations are considered as one. If the publication contains citations of two versions of the article (original and translated), then the citation of one of them is counted. If the author is cited from an article published in a translated journal, and both versions of the citing article are presented in the RSCI, then such citations from these two articles are counted as one. The entire list of citations can be viewed by unchecking the " group duplicate links".

SEARCH FOR AUTHOR CITATIONS

Not all links that may relate to the publications of this author can be shown in the list of unlinked links on the page with the list of citations of this author. References with errors in the surname or initials of the author do not get there (and there are quite a lot of such in the lists of cited literature). In addition, references where the given author is not listed at all in the list of authors of the cited publication cannot get there. This situation is quite common, as some journals limit the number of authors in the lists of cited literature, or even indicate only the first author of the publication. In order to find such references, you can use a special search form in the lists of references.

You can get to this search form from the section " Personal profile of the author" by following the link " Search for citations in the RSCI". The search form allows you to perform a global search across the entire array of references in the RSCI. At the same time, you can specify any word from the text of the link or the author's surname as search parameters. You can also limit the search to the range of years of the cited publication and / or the range of years of the citing publication. Results output The search is carried out in the same way as on the page with the author's citation list, that is, not only the link itself is shown, but also the citing publication.

Take advantage of this search form to find links to your publications. One of the possible options is to search by the name of the first author of your publication (the first author is always indicated in the links, and the other co-authors may not be). You can set a search through the entire text of the link in case the authors could not be correctly identified during automatic parsing of the link in the RSCI. If you work as a registered author, then in the search results links that are already in your list of citations will be highlighted with a red star icon located on the left in the column with the ordinal number of the link. If you managed to find links to your publications, select them in the list and select the " Add highlighted links to my list of citations" in panel " Tools" on right.

ORGANIZATION IDENTIFICATION IN THE AUTHOR'S PUBLICATIONS

Another opportunity provided to registered authors in the SCIENCE INDEX system is the identification of organizations in their publications. This feature can be useful not only to you as an author, but also to the organization in which you work, as it improves its performance in the RSCI. Identification of scientific organizations indicated as the place of work of authors in publications is one of the most difficult tasks for the system of automatic processing of the incoming information flow in the RSCI, since there are many options for writing the full or abbreviated name of the organization. In addition, various additional information is often indicated in this field - the organization's subdivision, address, position of the author, etc., which greatly complicates the task of extracting the name of the organization from this text. Therefore, not all publications in the RSCI can uniquely identify the organization.

You can understand whether an organization has been identified or not, and whether it has been done correctly, on the page with a bibliographic description of the publication. If an organization is identified, then when you hover over its name in the list of authors and organizations of the publication, a tooltip appears with the name of the identified organization from the regulatory list of organizations in the RSCI. If there is no hint, the organization is not identified. In this case, the author whose place of work is listed in this organization can help identify it. To do this, select the operation " Identify the organization listed in the publication as my place of work" in panel " Tools". This operation is shown in the list of possible actions only if the organization of the author in this publication is not identified or is missing. It is also possible that the publication has a list of authors and a list of organizations, but there is no correspondence between them.

Analysis of the publication activity of the author ". You can get to this page from the section " Personal profile of the author" and also from " Author's index" by clicking on the colored bar graph icon. Each of the indicators presented on this page has a tooltip that appears when you hover over the question mark icon next to the name of the corresponding indicator. The tooltip provides additional information on how that indicator is calculated. or some other indicator.

Bibliometric indicators of authors are calculated on a periodic basis. the date latest update shown in the title of the page. Registered authors have the ability to independently update these indicators, not only for their own statistics, but also for any other author. Therefore, if you see by the date of updating the indicators of a particular author that the data may be outdated, select the operation " Update Author Metrics" in panel " Tools".

Unlike bibliometric indicators, the statistical distributions presented on the author's publication activity analysis page always reflect the current state of the database. When you select the desired statistical report, an additional window opens, which displays a diagram with the distribution of publications by the selected parameter. If you click on this chart specific meaning this parameter, the list of publications corresponding to this value will open in the main window. For example, without closing the diagram window, you can view lists of the author's works published in various journals or performed in various organizations in the main window.

Statistical distributions by subject, keywords, journals, organizations, co-authors, and years are available for both the list of author's publications and the list of publications citing the author's work.

View a list of Web of Science articles citing a given " in the panel " Tools" on right.

Similarly, if your organization subscribes to the Scopus database, then you can go to the list of articles citing this publication in Scopus by selecting the appropriate link in the possible actions panel. In addition, even if you are not a Scopus subscriber, you can follow this link to view the bibliographic description of this article in Scopus and the last two links to this publication.

Citation counts in Web of Science and Scopus are only shown for journals that are processed in these databases. For articles published in Russian translated journals, the English version of which is processed in Web of Science or Scopus, a query is made and the result is displayed for the corresponding English version of the article, if such a match can be established.

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is a national information and analytical system that accumulates more than 2 million publications by Russian authors, as well as information about citing these publications from more than 3,000 Russian journals.

It is designed not only to promptly provide scientific research with up-to-date reference and bibliographic information, but is also a powerful tool that allows you to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of research organizations, scientists, the level of scientific journals, etc.

The registration of the author in the SCIENCE INDEX is combined with the registration of the user on the portal of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU. To register on the eLIBRARY.RU portal, you must fill out a new registration form, which can be opened by clicking on the link Registrations in the panel Library entrance; to register in SCIENCE INDEX, you need to fill in additional fields in the same form.

If you are already registered on the eLIBRARY.RU portal and want to register in SCIENCE INDEX, you need to enter the library under your username and then go to your personal card in the section Personal Profile, or by clicking on the username in the panel Current session.

When registering, you must choose a unique username to log into the library and provide your personal, valid email address. When registering in the SCIENCE INDEX system, an email with a registration confirmation code will be sent to this address. After receiving this letter, you will need to follow the link indicated in the body of the letter.

After registration, a letter will be sent to your e-mail with a message about assigning you a personal identification code of the author (SPIN-code) in the SCIENCE INDEX system. From the moment you assign a SPIN code, you get access to new services provided to authors of scientific publications.

After registering the author in the SCIENCE INDEX system and assigning him a personal identification code of the author (SPIN code) in the section For authors there is a link to Personal Profile author, which contains all the tools and services intended for authors of scientific publications. To view a list of your publications, you can follow the link My publications in this section.

You can also get to the list of your publications through Author index or simply by clicking on the author's surname on any page of the RSCI, where this surname is highlighted as a link.

To do this, select it in the list and select the operation Delete selected publications from the list of author's works in the panel Possible actions on right. Be careful, when deleting a publication, it is no longer shown not only in the list of your works, but also in your list of unlinked publications.

When adding publications to list of your publications in some cases, the system does not allow this to be done automatically. This usually happens if there is doubt about the correctness of attributing this publication to this author, for example, if the surname or initials of the authors differ, or if the article is already linked to another author with the same name. In this case, requests to add articles are submitted for manual review to the RSCI support service. To view a list of publications pending a decision to include them in your list of publications, you can select the mode Show posts awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the list of works of the author.

It is possible that the publication is in the RSCI database, but is not offered in the list of possible publications of this author.

The author needs to find such publications by generating a query, run it for execution and view the results. On the search results page, publications that are already included in the list of your works are marked with a red star icon in the right column, which shows the number of citations of publications. If you find your publication in this list, which is not included in the list of your works, go to the page with its bibliographic description and select the operation there Add post to the list of my works in the panel Possible actions.

Working with the citation list

You can get to the page with the list of citations of the author by clicking on the link My citations from personal profile author or from Author's index by clicking on the author's citation count. For each link shown in the citation list, not only the text of the link itself is displayed, but also a brief bibliographic description of the publication - the source of this link. If the link cites a publication whose bibliographic description is available in the RSCI database, then an icon with a red arrow is added at the end of the link text, allowing you to go to the full bibliographic description of the cited publication.

As well as in the list of publications of the author, in the list of his citations you can choose the mode - show only the (linked) links included in the author's citation list, show only unlinked links that may belong to this author, show linked and unlinked links in one list, or also display links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the list of citations of the author. In this case, as well as in the list of publications, for unlinked links, the serial number in the list is highlighted in red.

The algorithm of the author's work with the list of his citations is generally similar to the algorithm of work with the list of publications. First, you need to check if other people's publications are included in the author's list of citations. If such links are found, select them in the list and select the operation Delete highlighted links from the author's citation list in the Possible Actions panel. Then you need to look through the list of unlinked links and look for links to your work there. If any are found, select them in the list and select an operation Add highlighted links to author's citation list. All these operations must be carried out on each page of the list separately, since marked links are not saved when moving to the next page

Also, as in the case of publications, not all references can be immediately included by the author in his list of citations. Disputed links (for example, already linked to another author) are submitted for consideration to the RSCI support service. Until a decision is made, they fall into a separate list, which can be viewed by selecting the "Show links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list" mode.

Not all links that may be related to the publications of this author may be shown in the list unattached links on the page with the list of citations of this author, since there are no references with errors in the author's surname or initials (and there are quite a lot of such in the lists of cited literature). In addition, references where the given author is not listed at all in the list of authors of the cited publication cannot be included. In order to find such references, you can use a special search form in the lists of references.

You can access this search form from the section Personal Profile author by clicking on the link Citation Search in RISC. If you managed to find links to your publications, select them in the list and select the operation Add highlighted links to the list of my citations in the panel Possible actions on right.

Organization Identification

In the SCIENCE INDEX system, registered authors are given the opportunity to identify the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky as an organization in his publications. This opportunity can be useful not only to you as an author, but also to the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky, since it improves the performance of the institute in the RSCI. To do this, select the operation Identify organization, indicated in the publication as the place of my work in the panel Possible actions. This operation is shown in the list of possible actions only if the organization of the author in this publication is not identified or is missing.

All bibliometric indicators and statistical distributions calculated in the SCIENCE INDEX system for the author are summarized on the page Analysis of the author's publication activity. You can access this page from the section Personal Profile the author, as well as Author's index by clicking on the colored histogram icon. Each of the indicators presented on this page is provided with a tooltip, which is displayed when you hover over the icon with a question mark next to the name of the corresponding indicator.

Bibliometric indicators of authors are calculated on a periodic basis. The date of the last update is shown in the title of the page. Registered authors have the option to update these metrics themselves by selecting the operation Update Author Metrics in the panel Possible actions.

A more detailed instruction, which describes the algorithm of the author's actions for correcting and maintaining the list of his publications and citations in the RSCI up to date, is on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU in the section "For Authors".

The year 2005 can be considered the beginning of the Russian Science Citation Index project, when a Russian mechanism for evaluating and analyzing scientific publications was developed at the site of the scientific electronic library. The aim of the project was to create an objective indicator of the citation of domestic scientists. The number of publications before the start of the Russian index, falling into international ratings, was only 10 of all published.

What is RISC

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) system is a domestic citation database for fundamental, academic and applied research.

At the moment, the database archive contains more than 12 million different publications, more than 600 thousand scientists, researchers, and teachers are actively publishing their works.

There are 11 thousand scientific organizations registered on the elibrary.ru platform related to all branches of science. At least 3,000 new texts are added to the RSCI list every day.

The basis of the citation system is the indexing of all printed and electronic publications published in the specialized literature. Each publication of the RSCI list has an abstract index, which includes:

The RSCI system solves a number of the most important tasks of science:

  1. analyze and evaluate the citation of domestic scientists, professors, scientists;
  2. create a single complete list of scientific publications, an authoritative independent database;
  3. to form a multifunctional search system, a navigation system for articles, publications, specialized journals.

The Russian Citation Index is the main citation system in Russia today, which includes all information about various studies (monographs, manuals, conference proceedings, articles, dissertations). The RSCI database is in free public access. Official site.

Figure 1 - Main page of the RSCI website

The difference between HAC and RSCI

Some confuse the list of journals of the Higher Attestation Commission and the list of the Russian index, which is fundamentally wrong. Publicism, included in the scientific database and VAK, are two separate catalogues.
The scientific database registry has been expanded to include the most authoritative periodicals in Russia.

The citation index itself is a tool that makes it possible to find out the level of periodicals, objective criteria for its importance and popularity (impact factor).

Every scientist or research organization strives for high citation rates in the RSCI as an assessment of effectiveness.

But the applicant for a scientific degree needs to publish his articles only in those journals that are approved by the Higher Attestation Commission.

The list of the attestation commission is much smaller. A journal included in the Russian citation database is not automatically included in the VAK.

Impact factor RSCI

The impact factor (IF) is a quantitative indicator of the value of a journal, its importance and importance. There are different approaches to calculating the IF: for two, three, five previous years. Many organizations define the factor in their own developed ways.

The impact factor of Russian journals is determined according to the classical method:

IF = a/b, where

a - the number of cited journal articles for the previous conditional period (2 or 5 years),
b is the number of all publications for the same conditional period.

The Russian Citation Index calculates two sets of IFs:

  • in the first factor for b, all references in all sources are considered, including texts without clear authorship;
  • in the second IF, only author's articles from domestic journals are taken to calculate b.

What is the core of the RSCI

In 2015, an agreement was concluded with Web of Science that their site will host Russian base data of cited articles. This includes the most successful domestic publications. Best magazines, as well as individual articles, included in the international database, and constitute the Core of the Russian citation index.
The development stage assumed that the "core" would include the TOP-1000 domestic journals. This TOP is not static, every year there is a selection of journals corresponding to a high level.

To date, the core consists of almost 700 copies of periodicals.

The difference between the domestic and foreign citation index lies in the fact that the foreign index counts only “its own” publications, while all information is available to the Russian scientific citation index.
If a graduate student, young scientist or teacher needs an article not for “extras”, but for serious argumentation in the defense of a Ph.D. or deep immersion in science, then it is important to strive to publish the work in the TOP.

How to get into the RSCI

Registration in the electronic library RSCI elibrary ru is required if necessary:

  1. get access to all available materials of the electronic library;
  2. manage site navigation (save search history, customize the panel, etc.);
  3. form a personal selection of texts, publications, collections;
  4. enter the site, post the publication as its author.

To get into the search engine, you must first register as a user. This will enable entry and access to the entire RSCI database.

The Russian Science Citation Index can be used as an assessment tool, having passed the secondary registration, already as an author.

It will be possible to enter the database to use new services (publish or index your own article, calculate the index) no earlier than in a week (the process of checking the questionnaire and confirming registration takes so long).

Scientific journals RSCI

The electronic scientific library of the RSCI includes almost 7,000 titles. Of these, on the elibrary site:

  • 5600 publications are presented in full,
  • open free access have 4800 journals.

The RSCI list is regularly updated and expanded.
There is an index on the site - "search for magazines". Various parameters allow you to quickly find the edition you are looking for (Fig. 2).

Figure 2 - Catalog of logs included in the database

The RSCI list includes a variety of periodicals, which include (Fig. 3):

  1. highly specialized (from astronomy to linguistics),
  2. multidisciplinary journals (technical, humanitarian or in all areas of science).

Figure 3 - Thematic list of journals

RSCI Conference

Since 2011, scientific conferences of the RSCI have been held, at which various aspects of scientific activity are studied. On the official website you can find information about both past events and upcoming ones.

Some universities hold similar events, as a result of which the most relevant materials, outstanding speeches, and conclusions are summarized in a common collection. The publishers of such collections strive to index them in the scientific citation base, but the publication does not always pass a rigorous check.

The publication in the RSCI of the results of a conference of a university is a criterion of high quality

Publication in the RSCI collection allows young scientists to increase their citation index. That is why not only professionals and narrow specialists, but also university professors and graduate students who are fond of science, strive to get into them.

E-library for authors

  • through the usual user registration, after which fill out an additional questionnaire (personal profile);
  • through the publishing house or organization where the author works or teaches (Fig. 4).

Figure 4 - Registration in the RSCI

  1. Enter "manually" a full abstract description of the published manuscript.
  2. Use a template with a link to an article already published on another site (if information about it is already in the database).
  3. Add an article using the DOI code (if the journal uses this method of identification). The article search procedure, in this case, is automatic.

How to find out the author's citation index

Determining the number of cited articles is an important factor for a scientist. RSCI index citations are calculated automatically by the electronic library server. How to find out the RSCI index:

  • through the search "My citations" in the personal profile,
  • through the "Author's index", after filling in the full name column.

To find out your Hirsch index or your colleague's Hirsch index, follow the link to find the author. Enter the last name or other known search parameters. At the output, you can immediately see information about the citation of the author.

Next to the citation of publications is a colored icon, by clicking on it you can get detailed detailed information.

SCIENCE INDEX system

In 2011, the analytical part was “built on” over the common database - the SCIENCE INDEX system for organizations and publishers. The institution concludes an agreement, after which it can:

  1. add not only a new publication, but also monographs, results and conclusions of their own conferences, announcements of upcoming events on the basis of their institution;
  2. manage the entire set of tools necessary for the analysis and evaluation of publications (both at the level of an organization and department, and at the level of an individual scientist);
  3. carry out the most detailed analysis and calculation of scientometric indicators (individual and complex);
  4. independent control over publication activity.

The RSCI system requires additional registration, which is possible only after a thorough check. If the publications of the author or edition are approved by the Higher Attestation Commission, they can do this without difficulty. A separate heading in the personal user section is the paragraph “register in the system as the author of publications” (Fig. 5).

When concluding an agreement, a scientific organization prescribes in the agreement which of its employees will coordinate the work with the citation index.

Author ID and Author SPIN

  • Author ID
  • SPIN code

An individual AuthorID is assigned to each registered author. This personal number allows you to identify a person in the database, take part in scientific events, apply for grants, and publish in specialized periodicals.

ID search:

  1. entry to the author's personal page,
  2. the ID pointer will be under the full name.

With the introduction of the SCIENCE INDEX system, it became possible to independently analyze publication activity (refine lists, check publication, calculate the index).

This system requires additional registration, after which the author is assigned a SPIN code.

The definition of the SPIN code can also be found in the personal profile, which reflects its publishing activity

The RSCI covers an impressive volume of scientific publications by Russian authors. All forecasts indicate that in the near future the RSCI database of the Russian Science Citation Index will only increase. Important difference from international systems in the fact that on the domestic platform you can register for free and have access to almost the entire citation database. The main functions of the Russian parameter are the analysis and evaluation of publications of Russian scientists, as well as the source and search engine of all specialized periodicals.

RSCI, or the Russian Science Citation Index, takes into account citations and publications of authors in 7 thousand Russian journals and contains information about 700 thousand scientists, 11 thousand scientific organizations.

The project has existed since 2005, but earlier archives are presented in many areas of science. In 2005, the Ministry of Education and Science put on the agenda the issue of improving the quality of research activities in Russia.

The reason for this was the extremely low number of references to the works of Russian scientists by their Western colleagues. It was assumed that this was due to the lack of tools for an objective assessment of the work of researchers. As a result, healthy competition did not encourage scientists to work more efficiently, and material support in the form of grants and prizes was often given to the wrong author who really deserved it.

All over the world, the rating of a scientist is assessed using scientometric indicators, they are calculated by special analytical platforms Web of Science, Scopus). A competition was announced for the creation of the RSCI. According to the results of the competition, the electronic library Elibrary was chosen as the official site. It is on this Internet resource that you can find out the RSCI rating for scientists, journals, scientific organizations.

The RSCI index allows you to objectively evaluate scientific activity. For this, special scientometric indicators were developed. Both RSCI and other analytical platforms use them for their activities. Speaking about what functions the RSCI performs, the informational one should be emphasized separately.

Since 2010, the RSCI database began to include not only articles from scientific periodicals, but also monographs, dissertations, abstracts and reports from collections of conference materials, patents, textbooks.

Journals and conferences of the RSCI are included in the databases based on the selection of the highest quality ones. Although Russian science discusses how conscientiously this selection is carried out, nevertheless, completely incompetent publications are not taken into account for calculating the index.

For an objective assessment of the quality of a scientist's work, a citation index is used. In contrast to English-language analytical platforms, RSCI scientometric indicators are calculated differently. You can see not only the number of citations of the researcher's works, but also see the percentage of self-citations, references in lists of references, references in independent articles by former co-authors of the scientist.

The RSCI also calculates the Hirsch index - this is an indicator that is equal to the number of articles cited at least a certain number of times.

Many scientists are interested in the question of how to increase the RSCI indicators. You can wind up the RSCI rating using various tricks that cannot be calculated. For example, mutual citation is popular, when colleagues agree to mention each other in their works, and journals sometimes require authors to refer in their article to any publication from this publication.

How to register in the RSCI and how to determine your index

First of all, in order to get into the RSCI, a scientist must create a personal account. Registration in the RSCI is carried out on the Elibrary.ru website. The user indicates his passport data, place of work, email address, come up with a login and password to exit. After that, he receives a personal code in his mailbox, which will be needed to access the RSCI scientometric database. This is how a scientist can get access to the RSCI: how to find out his index, and evaluate the performance of colleagues or the degree of credibility of the journal.

One of the advantages of this system is the ability to independently adjust the RSCI rating indicators: both add a new publication and correct information entered by mistake. after registering with the RSCI, the author can save the journal search settings in the RSCI database, store the history of viewing publications, and make thematic collections.

Without authorization, users cannot access information from the RSCI database. This applies to both articles that are freely available and paid publications. In order to read the full-text versions of such articles, you must subscribe to the publication. Free site visitor can only get acquainted with the abstract, keywords, list of references.

The search for journals in the RSCI database can be carried out by word or topic, with or without the impact factor.

RSCI: requirements for the design of an article, journal, list of references

A few years ago, a single standard for the design of publications for the RSCI was adopted. The requirements for articles are fully set out in a pdf-format document, where all the details are described in detail on 5 pages: title and font size (Times New Roman, 14), paragraph indent (1.25 cm), margin width (2 cm), line spacing (1,5).

It is forbidden to use the letter "ё", color drawings, bold type, insert spaces between paragraphs. The text is justified in width, word wrapping should be automatic. All references to literary sources in the course of the text are taken in square brackets.

The RSCI requirements for the design of the list of references are as follows: automatic numbering of sources is not allowed (only manually), the font size is 12, the names of the sources are formatted according to a standard pattern. An example of a bibliography: Ivanov I. I. Enterprise Economics: a textbook for students / I. I. Ivanov, A. T. Petrova. - 3rd ed., revised. and additional - Voronezh: VGU, 2014. - 338 p. – ISBN 865-5-322-33347-2.

The nuances of the design of the bibliography are presented in the methodological manual of the RSCI

Publication requirements also make it necessary for the reference part to be compiled by the researcher himself, and not by the editors of the journal. The reference part includes an abstract, a list of keywords, information about the author. This data is also typed in font 12, information about the author includes the surname and initials, the full name of the organization on the basis of which the study was carried out, city, academic title, degree and position of the scientist. The surname of the author and the name of the institution are given in Russian and in English according to the RSCI standards.

Requirements for journals are not so clear. The inclusion of a scientific publication in the RSCI list is possible on the basis of a contract between the editors and the administration of the Elibrary electronic library. You can fill out an application on the website on the Internet.

How the RSCI database and its official website are developing

A few years ago, project leaders signed contracts with the administration of the Web of Science and Scopus platforms. Now the Russian Science Citation Index on the official website is indicated taking into account the rating indicators of the researcher from these analytical sites. In 2015, the best periodicals from the list of RSCI journals were included in the Web of Science database. The reference part of articles in English is placed in free access - these are annotations, information about the author, bibliography, keywords.
