Annexation

Annexation, annexation or annexation (lat.) - accession, appropriation. This name denotes the annexation of a region or region to another state, not based on a formal act of renunciation of the former sovereign. In modern times, this expression is used mainly in relation to the North German states conquered by Prussia in 1866: Hanover, the Electorate of Hesse, the Duchy of Nassau and the free city of Frankfurt.
