Reading time: 3 minutes

Kulirka is the thinnest of knitted fabrics, cross-knitted, single-layer. Otherwise called culinary smoothness. The front surface is smooth, has a pattern in the form of thin vertical "pigtails", the reverse side has a cellular structure. Kulirka with lycra - what kind of fabric, what is it made of? Usually made from cotton fibers. To improve the appearance and physical properties of the fabric, 5-7% of lycra (elastane), a highly elastic synthetic fiber, is added to its fibers.

During production, the thread is successively bent and forms a horizontal loop row. These bends gave the name to the material - translated from French means "bend".

Properties and types

The lycra hoodie has the same hygienic and physical properties as the classic pure cotton hoodie:

  • hygroscopicity. Able to absorb an amount of moisture equal to 15-20% of its own weight;
  • breathability. In products made of this material, the body "breathes";
  • hypoallergenicity. The material is made from environmentally friendly raw materials, does not cause allergies.

Physical properties:

  • softness. Very pleasant to the touch and does not irritate the skin;
  • strength and durability. Products from it are not torn and worn for a long time;
  • firmness and elasticity. It stretches well and returns to its original shape, practically does not wrinkle.

Thanks to the addition of elastane fibers, the mechanical strength and elasticity of the fabric increase, things from it are dimensionally stable: they stretch and completely restore their shape without stretching, and after washing they do not shrink.

The disadvantages of the material include a strongly twisted edge, which usually causes inconvenience when cutting and sewing, the edges of thin knitwear must be processed in a special way.

Sometimes a certain percentage of polyester is added to cotton and elastane fibers, which reduces the hygroscopicity and softness of the fabric, adds strength and durability to it. Such material is cheaper than natural. When choosing products, it is recommended to take into account the composition and choose those in which the content of polyester does not exceed 20%.

The culinary fabric lends itself perfectly to dyeing, printing is excellent on it, it can be one-colored or printed.

Depending on the length and quality of the threads used, there are several types:

  • singing - made from threads 35-70 mm long and is the most expensive and high quality. On such material, pellets do not form, it does not shrink, and printed drawings fit perfectly on it;
  • cardier or ring - has a rougher texture than singing, is made of threads of shorter length (up to 35 mm);
  • open end knitwear is made from the shortest threads, it is considered the lowest in quality. Pellets may form on the surface.

Where is lycra cooler used

Due to the high physical and hygienic quality indicators, Lycra cooler is a universal material, one of the most popular and in demand in the textile industry. It is inexpensive, practical, its products are bright and attractive.

From a stretch cooler they produce:

  • women's and men's light clothing for home and leisure: home sets, pajamas, bathrobes, T-shirts are very comfortable and allow you to do household chores or relax in comfort;
  • Underwear. Absorbs moisture released by the body at elevated temperatures and retains it in the fibers, gradually removing it to the outside and leaving no feeling of wet tissue. In conditions with a lower temperature warm;
  • children's clothes. For children, this material is chosen for its softness, durability and all sorts of color options - from the brightest printed patterns to soothing pastel colors. T-shirts, suits with skirts and trousers, dresses are very practical, do not tear, are easy to wash and do not lose their attractive appearance for a long time;
  • clothes and bedding for newborns. Rompers, bodysuits, caps made of such fabric are very soft to the touch, do not hinder movements and do not cause irritation even on the sensitive skin of babies;
  • men's and women's summer or beachwear. Sundresses, dresses, t-shirts and kulirka shorts are very thin, they are comfortable in hot weather.

Kulirka is different in density, some of its qualities change from this indicator: a very thin one has less strength, it wrinkles more and holds its shape worse, it is mainly used for the production of underwear. The dense material is dimensionally stable, and knitwear is sewn from it.

Product Care
