How to quickly and easily peel a pomegranate without much effort

cooking

Pomegranate is a large spherical fruit, which contains 1000-1200 or more tasty, juicy and sweet ruby grains. This fruit is just a storehouse of vitamins and minerals necessary for the full functioning of the human body. The systematic use of pomegranate seeds will help strengthen the immune system, blood vessels, optimize hematopoiesis, the functioning of the thyroid gland and the heart.

Pomegranate is pleasant to eat on its own, but can be included in a variety of dishes. It is added to all kinds of salads, meat and fish dishes. Grains decorate pastries and snacks. And on the basis of pomegranate juice they prepare delicious sauces, wine, smoothies. However, many of us rarely buy a miracle fruit because we don't want to bother with peeling it. Indeed, with a careless cut, you can crush the grains, get dirty, lose a lot of useful juice.

To extract seeds from pomegranate easily and without much effort, you need to know some subtleties. But before you figure out how to properly and quickly peel a pomegranate, you should learn how to choose an amazing fruit.

How to choose a pomegranate

The choice of this sweet and sour fruit should be taken very seriously. Prefer only ripe pomegranates, as they are the most delicious, and the peel is separated from the grains much more easily than unripe fruits.

In a ripe pomegranate, the peel looks a little dry, it fits tightly around the grains, and has a brown color on the tail. On the stalk, the petals look dry, not green.

If the peel is flawlessly smooth and even, the pomegranate must have been plucked greenish.

Good fruits are firm and weighty, they should not have dents.

If the pomegranate fell or was hit, then in the place of the dent, the grains soon begin to rot.

It is not at all necessary that the peel and grains of the pomegranate be a bright ruby color. There are varieties with pink skin and pale red grains.

Well, now that we have dealt with the choice of juicy and healing fruits, let's start cleaning them.

Cleaning methods

First way

Wash the pomegranate and pat dry with a paper towel.

With a small knife, make a shallow, long cut that should go down both sides of the pomegranate to the middle. And from above in the “navel” area, make this incision a little deeper than in the rest. Then make a second cut perpendicular to the first. The result should be a "cross" that will divide the pomegranate into 4 equal parts.

Insert the knife blade inside the cut and gently move it in different directions to open the pomegranate more. Repeat the same steps in a perpendicular section.

Then break the fruit with your hands: first in half, and then into quarters.

Remove the white bitter film and you can extract the grains.

Second way

To clean the pomegranate in this way, special technical means are also not required. All you need is a knife and a bowl, which you can find in any kitchen.

  1. First, carefully cut off the top of a clean fruit. Having removed the "hat", you will see white streaks dividing the fruit into several segments.
  2. Make small cuts along these veins with a knife.
  3. Take a bowl or bowl, place the fruit over it with the cut down. Use the handle of a knife to gently tap the surface of the peel. At the same time, the grains will begin to crumble into the dishes, remaining whole and unharmed.

Third way

There is another way that will help clean the pomegranate easily, without splashing and without much effort.

  1. As in the previous description, the fruit must be washed and the top removed from it.
  2. Then cut the fruit in half. Having lowered each half in turn in a bowl of water, begin to divide it into segments (slices).
  3. Remove the skin from the surface of each segment. During operation, the pomegranate grains will sink to the bottom of the container, and the films and peel will float.
  4. Remove the peel and drain the water. Now you have only a handful of juicy ruby berries left in the bottom of the bowl.

Fourth way

This idea will come in handy if you want to clean a pomegranate in 30 seconds. For high-speed cleaning, you will need a steel dumpling mold, a bowl, and a kitchen hammer.

  1. Take a bowl the same width as the dumpling. Place the mold on top of the bowl. Cut the pomegranate in half. Place the pomegranate seeds on top of the dumpling.
  2. Tap the back of the fruit with a kitchen mallet. Thus, you will knock out the grains, which will fall into the bowl through the holes in the dumpling. You need to knock with a hammer carefully so as not to damage the peel and not crush the grains. Otherwise, bright crimson splashes of juice will fly on your clothes and in your face.

Fifth way

I offer another affordable way, supplemented by a video, on how to quickly clean a pomegranate in 30 seconds.

  1. Remove the upper part from the washed fruit. Please note that inside the fruit is divided by white films into five segments.
  2. With a knife, cut the peel on the outside of the fruit opposite each film.
  3. Insert a knife with a not very wide blade into the central part of the fruit, make an incision, rotate the knife around its axis.
  4. Then manually open the pomegranate, which will easily fall apart into slices. At the same time, the grains will remain undamaged, and only you will get all the healing juice. By removing the separating films and holding the fruit segment in your hands, you can eat the grains by removing them with your mouth instead of your hands.
